Another one of my 1-day routes when I just feel like hitting the road and stretch the car’s legs a bit, without having to book hotels or take the ferry.
From !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , blast up the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...
...and Coldwater Road, draped in autumn foilage...
...to get to the Visitor Centre at Merritt, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
The major highways actually converge upon Merritt quite a bit OUTSIDE of town, so the tourism centre was unable to draw much “tourism” into the area
From !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , take the pre-1986 alignment of the aforementioned Coquihalla, now designated as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...

Wouldn’t go near the tourist stop now- it’s been closed for a year or so and people are still ‘stopping for a break’ there. The entire place is pretty much a pit toilet by now.

I figured that would happen. You can’t close a bathroom that people have been using for years and not have them use the area anyways.

Yeah, there are a few news stories about that when I was looking for the link about its closure.
I think it makes sense to stop staffing the building because of the remote location, but they should have kept SOMETHING there, as an unmanned rest area or something.
After all, despite being so far out of town, that is where the major highways converge. I hear the new place is in Merritt proper, but one cannot actually pass by there except by BC-8... and nobody gets to Merritt via BC-8, except for me :-P

Yeah, for better or for worse, our Princeton is just your bog-standard Western Frontier town:
Hmph, looking back at my album from February 2016, there is a lot of Oppo-ness in here. I should make a post....

Word is the band is getting something developed there. We’ll see..
Pro tip- the Tim Horton’s in town is the worst. Go to the small built in TH at the easo instead..
